I am James Marshall. I love creating bespoke ironmongery for the home and garden. I live in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds with my wife, two children and my dog.
I have always loved making things and been interested in art and design. From an early age my parents would give me a cardboard box, some scissors, glue and wait for my creations.
At school I studied Art and Design, which started my interest in sculpture and metal work. I would salvage scrap metal from the farm workshop and I would create pieces of art.
From school I studied Agri-food Production and Marketing at Harper Adams Agriculture College. I then started working for the family business. After 14 years in food manufacturing and farming I had the opportunity to change direction and revisit design and art. I attended courses in traditional blacksmithing near Lincoln and since then I have continued making items of contemporary design but using traditional methods and skills.
I enjoy the great outdoors and the countryside and appreciate nature’s own art that I might see on a walk through the woods or a stroll on the beach. These shapes and forms flow through into my work creating fluid design that is organic and unusual.
My aim is to create bespoke pieces for the home and garden that are functional art. Pieces that are hand crafted with no boundaries.
